Our price increase

07-Feb-2010 Due to a shortage of Australian stocks, Australian Pumpkin Seed Company will be forced to import some of its supplies from Europe for the coming year. The poor seasons in Europe has increased prices by over 60% in the last 18 months. Rather than pass this amount on to our customers, we have been working hard to reduce costs and have reduced margins so I can happily say that we will only be increasing our prices 10 - 12%. The continued effort, of a lot of people, to see the Australian industry develop will hopefully help us when seasons are unfavourable in the future. Check out our updates on the Australian industry coming soon.

Hard to believe we are not able to produce what we need here...PSO is expensive now and increasing the price by 10% or more together with the postage could lead to some customers finding it unaffordable.

Thanks John for your comment. With regard to "not being able to produce what we need here", with these pumpkin seeds its not a matter of not able to, its a matter of haven't been. We are starting the industry so we can produce what is needed for the Australian market - this takes time. We have been harvesting, washing and drying harvested seed by hand... we now have a specialised harvester but more specialised equipment is needed for washing and drying. Unfortunately this equipment is costly, however it will help to keep costs down in the long run. We strive to make our products as affordable as possible - have a look at the Pumpkin Seed Blog on "Comparisons between pumpkin seed oil and saw palmetto oil" for some interesting costings.
