Pumpkin Seed Shortage

13-Jul-2010

We have a severe shortage of pumpkin seeds at the moment...

This has come about from a number of factors:

  1. Family health issues have meant the founding members of Australian Pumpkin Seed Company are unable to continue growing pumpkin seeds to supply our business.
  2. Getting other farmers to grow takes a lot of trial and error to be able to produce an ever increasing amount required.
  3. Our recent order from overseas which we ordered to carry us through until next season was supposed to be pumpkin seeds grown in Austria or Slovenia (we know they are good quality) ended up coming from Russia and were unfit for human consumption.

With these factors in place we are working to overcome these challenges and implement strategies to deal with and remove some of the problems that can occur as best as possible.

The good news is that we do still have a small quantity of seed that was grown as a trial crop in Victoria. The seed still needs to be sorted as there are a few small stones amongst them (not good for teeth!). Because of the small quantity we will only be able to offer them through our online shop. As soon as they are available a notification will be sent out, so make sure you add your details to the Product & Allergy Notifications.
